Jungles of Tadoba
Tadoba Tiger Reserve, Maharashtra
The saga of Tiger safari happened to me during early 2017 chill of January. Since then the journey to TATR ( Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve ) has always been awesome. Never has it disappointed me, every trip of mine has end with multiple tiger sightings. Generally, I would take a flight from Mumbai to Nagpur and take a 3 hours road drive to the rest houses adjoining the gates of jungle. I would have done at least 30 safaris and my hit % would be more than 90% with tiger sightings.
Spread over around 1,725 sq km, Tadoba is Maharashtra’s largest national park. The landscape is practically split into three major forest ranges: the Tadoba north range, Kolsa south range, and the Moharli range in between the two. All are accessible to tourists via twelve gates, of which Moharli, Kolara, and Navegaon are the popular ones in the core area, and Devada and Agarzani are the popular ones in buffer area.
As soon as you hit straight tar road from Moharli gate, there is a unknow anxiety which runs through out, what will it be this time. The waterholes and the lakes become a part of your dreams for next few days. Be it scorching summer heat 42-45 degrees or 4-7 degrees in the chilly winter, the adrenalin rush remains the same for me. The wait for the majestic cat for hours to catch a glimpse for few minutes, or see the stripped mother with its playful cubs, or the magnificent male marking the territory has always been any wildlife photographers dream, and I have been there and done that.
The captures below just represent a very small section of Tadoba’s habitat including the flora and fauna. It’s a must visit for the jungle lovers.
